Even one basketball player's mega success did not keep his marriage intact. The recent divorce between Kobe Bryant and his wife Vanessa serves as a reminder that even the rich and famous can face divorce.

The Bryant's have decided to end their 10-year marriage. Vanessa Bryant filed for divorce from the star basketball player in December, citing irreconcilable differences.

The couple has settled a number of different matters already. Court documents indicate that the two will share custody of their two young daughters. Additionally, the couple's three homes worth an estimated $18.8 million have been left to Vanessa Bryant.

According to the news source, the couple did not sign a prenuptial agreement prior to their 2001 wedding. Because of that Vanessa is entitled to half of the couple's reported $150 million fortune. She is also seeking spousal support.

Although it appears the Bryant's have sorted out a number of different matters, they will likely need time to adjust to their new lives. That is likely true for any couple that has chosen to end their marriage. Although for some couples divorce is the only solution, it is never an easy decision to make.

The Bryant's have likely been working with attorneys to settle their divorce. Couples in Georgia who have parted ways may also find it beneficial to work with any attorney experienced in family law cases. In addition to helping solve the various issues that come up in a divorce, an attorney can also ensure that an individual's rights are protected throughout the entire process.
